Quote of The Week - Wisdom

Ecclesiastes 7:12 (NIV)

“Wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter, but the advantage of knowledge is this: that wisdom preserves the life of its possessor.”

Ecclesiastes 7:12 (Amplified Bible)

“For wisdom is a defense even as money is a defense, but the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom shields and preserves the life of him who has it.”

Be wise and get as much knowledge as possible. This will help you out with every aspect of life. God wants us to prosper and be in good health. Be wise and obedy the voice of the Lord and your life will be preserved.

Learn to love yourself

Mark 12:31
The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

If you don’t love yourself, how can you love your neighbor.

God loves you so you must love yourself. If you love yourself, you should take care of yourself. Eating healthy, working out, and getting rest are some of the keys to being and staying healthy.

Some people just want to love and others just want to be loved. You even have some that are actually ready for love. But to have all three is to be complete. To love someone is to be understanding when you don’t want too. Love is an expression. To love someone is to look out for their best interest. You can be loved without even knowing that a person loves you. God loves each and every person on earth, but everyone does not realize this.

To be ready for love means to actually except that this person actually loves you. Loving someone is an action word. It should be displayed or manifested in some capacity. Learn to love yourself and take care of your body. For the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

God is Love

God the Father is Love - he created us to love, Jesus is Love- showed us how to love and to be loved, Holy Spirit charges us to Love - makes us ready for love. ‘All three make love complete.’

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always persevere. Love never fails. …When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me…And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. “

Food For Thought (Are you using the right spread?)

It can be very confusing at times when it comes to choosing a buttery spread. Some people like margarine and others like butter. When choosing a spread make sure you use a non-hydrogenated spread. The name brand that I use is Smart Balance. Anything that has “hydrogenated” in the first five ingredients isn’t very good for you. So, if you want to be healthy and cut some fat, stay away from hydrogenated oils.

Our Words are Powerful

Proverbs 5:1
“My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding,”

We are His sons (and daughters) and there is so much wisdom in His word so, we must pay attention. It is also interesting that because, we are made in His image, our words are powerful too. So be careful what you speak. Speak life not death.

Proverbs15:1 says, “A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.”

Romans 12:2 Renew Your Mind

Romans 12:2
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Transform means to change something dramatically.
Renew means to revive.

If your current state is unhealthy, you must change something. You cannot continue to do the same thing and expect different results. This is why you must evaluate your situation. Sometimes to renew your mind it is beneficial to use an outside source to assist you. Sometimes it is hard to see what you need to change when you are trying to be healthier. Someone else might be able to better identify various unhealthy habits that you could change.

In the spiritual room, God uses other to speak to you about change. This might come in the form of your pastor, a mother of the church or even a prophet. Dramatic changes can be difficult at times so, be gradual in your approach.

Titus 3:4-6 (Amplified Bible)
But when the goodness and loving-kindness of God our Savior to man [as man] appeared, He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but because of His own pity and mercy, by [the] cleansing [bath] of the new birth (regeneration) and renewing of the Holy Spirit, Which He poured out [so] richly upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.

Lack of sleep can be detrimental to you getting results

Jesus slept so why shouldn’t you.

Mark 4:38

“Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion.”

Sleeping is just as important as eating right and exercising. Your body repairs itself while you are sleeping. Also, your body burn calories while sleeping. So, if you aren’t getting enough sleep, you will limit the ability of your body to burn calories at rest. Researchers have reported that women who sleep five hours or less per night generally weigh more than women who sleep seven hours per night.

According to the National Sleep Foundation, the average woman gets only six and a half hours of sleep per night. Chronic sleep deprivation can have a variety of effects on the metabolism and overall health.

Inadequate sleep:

  • interferes with the body’s ability to metabolize carbohydrates;
  • causes your body to store more fat;
  • drives down leptin levels, which causes the body to crave carbohydrates;
  • can lead to insulin resistance and contribute to increased risk of diabetes;
  • can increase blood pressure; and,
  • can increase the risk of heart disease.

So, if you are trying to loose weight, get to bed and drop the weight.

Deuteronomy 5:33 Food For Thought (Longevity)

Deuteronomy 5:33 (New International Version)

“Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.”

God promised you a long life but you must do your part. Lack of a healthy lifestyle is the leading cause of preventable deaths in the United States. Don’t shorten your days because of poor habits. Get active and live for Christ.

Proverbs 3
My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity.
